RESEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION

For many years our focus has been on direct service provision. From 2009-10, we hope to strengthen our research efforts and include this in our advocacy with government. We have also recently started bringing women from different sites together to meet on a monthly basis to prioritise issues they wish to address. They have called themselves the Sakhi Federation, and MMC is focussing on developing their research and leadership skills. This is being done in partnership with the Centre for Grassroots Leadership at CORO, a local NGO, that awards year-long fellowships to train and support community leaders.

Research projects for the future include tracking a group of children, while they are with Mumbai Mobile Crèches and the next five years, measuring the impact of various aspects of the Mumbai Mobile Crèches programme and understanding health support services accessed by construction workers.
